The Manche region of Normandy is a great place for walkers of all levels and abilities. Enthusiasts and amateurs alike can hike the cliffs of the stunning Mont Saint Michel bay, ramble through rolling cider country or cool off along the banks of the many winding rivers or forests. Just pack your walking shoes and a baguette and you’re in for a treat.

The network of green routes or “Voies Vertes” that criss-cross the region are marked trails that take you far from the hustle and bustle of the towns and villages. All tours are signposted and graded according to difficulty and maps and brochures are available from tourist offices in the region.

A short drive away in nearby Swiss Normandy is Roche d’Oëtre, home to some of the best mountainous views in western France and packed full of fantastic walks and trails. The well-equipped Visitor’s Centre is a good place to start with maps and booklets on the different walks of varying distances and levels along with a museum and a much-needed bar and restaurant for après-hike refreshments. There is also an excellent tree-top adventure course where kids and adults can test their acrobatic skills by swinging through the trees and braving the zip wires.

As walkers ourselves we are always happy to help with suggested routes and trails. Just ask us for more details when making your booking.
